A sitemap is a file that contains the different pages of an Internet site and the route to them through the sections of the site. The web pages can be organized visually or as simple text and such a file is quite useful for two reasons. The first one is that it makes it much easier for the website visitors to find a certain page they need, so that they can navigate your site better and more quickly, which in turn will improve their user experience and it'll be more likely that they will revisit the Internet site or will recommend it to other people. One more reason is that a sitemap makes it possible for search engines to index your website content better, particularly if it's updated, so when users are interested in particular content, it's much more likely that they'll find your site since it will be listed higher in their search engine results. In case your site is not indexed effectively, it might not appear for some searches, so even when you have what people want, they will not get to the Internet site.
